Description
Our 1/2″ ID High-Temp Silicone Tubing is the premium choice for “hot-side” transfers in professional breweries and homebrewing setups. Unlike standard PVC or Vinyl tubing which can leach chemicals or collapse when exposed to heat, this tubing is rated for temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). This makes it perfect for moving boiling wort from your kettle to your plate chiller or whirlpooling during the mash process without any risk of melting or off-flavors.
Manufactured from Platinum-Cured Food-Grade Silicone, this hose is extremely flexible and resistant to “kinking,” even when navigating tight spaces inside a brew stand. The 1/8″ wall thickness (resulting in a 3/4″ Outside Diameter) provides the structural integrity to handle suction without collapsing, while the translucent finish allows you to visually verify flow and cleanliness. It is BPA-free, non-toxic, and can be easily sanitized via boiling or autoclave.
Why Use Silicone Over Vinyl?Standard vinyl tubing (EVABarrier or PVC) typically has a maximum temperature rating of 125°F–150°F. Using it with boiling wort causes the plastic to soften and release “plasticizer” flavors into your beer. Silicone is chemically inert and maintains its shape and seal at boiling temperatures. It is also UV resistant and does not become brittle over time, making it a long-term investment for your brewery’s fluid dynamics.
“By the Foot” quantity ordered will be shipped as a single uncut length. Maximum length available is 100 ft.
Pro-Brewing Tip:Because silicone is very soft, it can be easily pulled off a standard barb if the hose is tugged. We highly recommend using Stainless Steel Worm Gear Clamps or Camlock Quick Disconnects for a secure, high-pressure connection.Cleaning: You can sanitize this tubing by boiling it in water for 15 minutes or by recirculating a hot PBW (Powdered Brewery Wash) solution.
