Narrowest space between two of wheel 13944 (2.2 inch, fluted edge) when adjacent: 3/4 inch. What keeps the wheels from coming closer than 3/4 inch is the square rod-holding part of the wheel assembly, which is the assembly’s widest part. When slid onto the rod, the rod-holding parts of the two adjacent wheels press together for the smallest intervening space attainable.
