Briess CBW® Traditional Dark DME is a 100% pure malt extract made from a blend of Base Malt, Munich Malt, 60L Caramel Malt, and Black Malt. This 1 lb bag provides a rich, malty foundation with a deep mahogany color and complex notes of coffee and toasted bread. It is the perfect choice for brewing Porters, Stouts, and Brown Ales, offering excellent fermentability and a robust mouthfeel. As a dry malt extract, it is easy to measure and has an exceptional shelf life.
Brewery Tip: Dark DME is ideal for boosting the gravity of an all-grain Stout or as a yeast starter base for high-gravity dark beers. To prevent clumping and bottom-scorching, whisk the DME into warm water before bringing it to a boil. Store any unused portion in an airtight container to prevent it from hardening due to moisture absorption.
