Description
The Lancer Ceramic Piston Assembly (81-0274-01) is the internal core of a 3.0 oz/sec GMV valve. It consists of two diamond-ground ceramic disks that slide against each other to open and block the fluid path. Unlike standard rubber-seated pistons, the ceramic design is impervious to the abrasive minerals and chemicals found in some water supplies, ensuring zero flow-rate drift over time.
Symptoms of Failure: If the valve is ‘leaking through’ (dripping from the nozzle when not in use), the ceramic disks are likely cracked or fouled with debris. Another sign of failure is a ‘sticking’ lever where the flow doesn’t stop immediately after release. Replacing the piston restores the precise ‘mechanical snap’ shut-off and stable brix ratios.
Technician’s Note: Never drop these pistons on a hard floor. The ceramic disks are extremely brittle and will shatter on impact. When installing, ensure the valve body is free of any sand or mineral grit; a single grain of sand between the disks will cause a permanent leak.Technical Specifications:
